It's summertime, and the garden is in full bloom!
Right before Martha's memorial party, we succeeded in finishing a task that has been on our garden "to-do"list for quite some time: we painted and mounted the Dan and Judy Thomas Little Free Library. With this library, neighborhood residents and visitors alike are welcome to take or leave books of all shapes and forms. The adult and middle-grade books are on the left, and the board books go to the right. Since it's "opening" we have seen everything from J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter to Kathryn Stockett's The Help.
Painted to match the colors of the outbuildings on the Grier's property, there is even a tree-stump stool for younger readers to reach for books.
We also added a small stage in the Garden, for various events, gatherings, or just plain sitting around.
We hope eventually to add a dog and horse tethering station, and maybe a treehouse.
Have a lovely weekend!
