Fall Planting and Updates

Fall Planting and Updates

Hello again! With fall now upon us we are focused on resetting the Garden, repairing everything, and replanting the beds for the autumn/winter crops.

We want to bring several updates to the garden within the next several months...

  1. A "message/notice board" facing the road with information, events, and what's growing
  2. Kid's classes with arts, crafts, science, and plants
  3. A toolshed and/or mini greenhouse
  4. Adult classes with herbs, cooking, planting, and art
  5. A suggestion box for the Garden

We also hope to begin working with the local Food Bank next summer and donate extra produce to them.

Keep up with our day to day activities on Facebook!

The Dan and Judy Thomas Library

It's summertime, and the garden is in full bloom!

Right before Martha's memorial party, we succeeded in finishing a task that has been on our garden "to-do"list for quite some time: we painted and mounted the Dan and Judy Thomas Little Free Library. With this library, neighborhood residents and visitors alike are welcome to take or leave books of all shapes and forms. The adult and middle-grade books are on the left, and the board books go to the right. Since it's "opening" we have seen everything from J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter to Kathryn Stockett's The Help

Painted to match the colors of the outbuildings on the Grier's property, there is even a tree-stump stool for younger readers to reach for books.

We also added a small stage in the Garden, for various events, gatherings, or just plain sitting around.

We hope eventually to add a dog and horse tethering station, and maybe a treehouse.

Have a lovely weekend!

Hello all! We've gotten back-to-back snow and ice storms and everything is just now beginning to thaw. I thought I'd go out and introduce you to the newest member of our family...

Hello!

If you're reading this, I want to thank you for following our long journey in finding a place of our own. Welcome to the official Martha's Garden website! Feel free to explore by clicking on the different tabs at the top. This is a work-in-progress right now, but we hope to have it fully functional soon!
